Name:β-xylosidase Assay Kit
Measuring method: Spectrophotometric method
Specification: 50 tubes/24 samples
Storage conditions: low temperature and light protection
Validity: 6 months
Note: Choose 2-3 samples with large expected differences for pre-calibration before formal determination.
Measurement significance:
β-xylosidase (EC 3.2.1.37) is present in organisms such as plants, bacteria and fungi, and is a key enzyme catalysing the degradation of xylan-like hemicelluloses, and the product xylose can be used as a carbon source in microbial fermentation. In addition, β-xylosidase can be used as a biological bleaching agent applied in the paper industry, which is environmentally friendly than the traditional bleaching method and has a wide range of applications.
Measurement principle:
β-xylosidase catalyses the production of p-nitrophenol by p-nitrophenol-β-D-xyloside, p-nitrophenol has a characteristic absorption peak at 405nm, and the rate of increase of light absorption at 405nm can be measured to calculate the activity of β-xylosidase.
Provide your own lab supplies and apparatus:
Balance, low temperature centrifuge, visible spectrophotometer, 1 mL glass cuvette and distilled water.
